Great little book, simple, easy to follow and easy to understand all the scientific terms and processes. For each principle there is a simple easy recipe example that highlights all that is happening. The fast facts and glossary section are helpful, clear and straightforward (and even has some quizzes and crossword for those last minute worksheet moments). It ends with a basic mapping framework against AQA and OCR specs. This is the kind of book that should be sat beside your desk for easy reference, and quick planning when it comes to explaining all the scientific terms required for the new GCSE for all the exam boards. Completely unpretentious, it has a friendly, simple, light and lively, easy to understand, approachable feel. Those of you who have been to the new GCSE UK CPD tour with Simon Gray and I and asked for a book resource that had some of the experiments we performed you’ll find some here. – Review by Joseph Mann – much appreciated by Jenny Ridgwell!
I think it has a good lay out, suggestion of experiments for teacher &/or class to do, then sample recipes that use the process. J.O.
It is really good! K.L.
Sooooo excited look what I got in the post from the fantastic Jenny Ridgwell!!! Can’t wait to sit down with a drink and read through this tonight… review to follow! J.M.
I really like it and think it’s well worth the money. NS
I bought it the day it came out and haven’t looked back. Jenny Ridgwell books are always amazing in my humble opinion. MS
I did wonder if £40 was a bit steep when ordering, but now I have it in front of me I think it’s worth every penny. 71 pages of clearly explained food science covering the whole GCSE spec. and it can be photocopied in school MP
Just got my copy too thanks to Joseph Mann It really is a great resource. Only just flipped through it but looking really good Jenny. Simon Gray
