New Nutrition Label design given go ahead

newlabel

The new nutrition label was launched on June 19th 2013 by Public Health Minister in a bid to reduce obesity and improve diet choices.

It shows the Green, Amber and Red traffic light coding with nutritional information on how much fat, saturated fat, sugar and salt, and KJ and Kcal in a portion of the food.

‘The UK has the largest number of products using front of pack labels in Europe.’ said the minister Anna Soubry.

People will be able to use the colours to understand the levels of nutrients in the food they are eating.

You can find the details on this link.

There will be a new Responsibility Deal pledge to reduce the amount of calories, salt and trans fat in foods.
