AQA Product Profile – what does it mean?
I’ve wondered what a food product profile is so here is the AQA definition:
A product profile is a full description of the product under consideration and allows for a fuller description than that given by a star profile, which may only give sensory details.
Students must be able to understand that this contains a range of attributes, not only the usual sensory attributes but also qualities related to storage, nutritional profile, packaging, meeting consumer needs, and social, environmental and moral.
The AQA Food Technology specification is aimed mainly at one off production methods, more likely to be produced in a test kitchen. The new specification has reduced the amount of industrial/commercial methods.
